Meeting Tobe Hooper at the Fearless Tales Genre Festival in San Francisco! Very cool memory... The festival was great. Thanks to Michael Davidson and his team for organizing a great weekend and congratulations for making such a successful event.

Tales Genre Festival in San Francisco March 11th! It will be playing as 
part of the "Special Evening with Tobe Hooper" with a TBA double feature.

June 03: "The Underdogs" recently screened at the 2003 Chicago Horror Film Festival!

4/6/03: The Awards ceremony for the 2003 NYU First Run Festival took place Sunday night, and The Underdogs came away with four of the prestigious awards!!! Congratulations to all films in the competition, and check the Screenings page for updates. The Underdogs won the following awards:

Best Producer - Chris Romano
Best Cinematography - Steve Huber
Best Original Score - Kevin W. Walker
Best Sound Design - Jim Mickle

3/30/03: We are, of course, extremely happy to report that "The Underdogs" won the 2003 I-Con Independent Film Festival's award for Best Independent Film over the weekend!!! Thank you to Leah Gustavson at the convention for the wonderful award (and trophy!) and for all who got to see the screening!

Next up for the film is the gigantic annual NYU First Run Festival in just over a week. Check the screenings page for more info. Also in the future is the Chicago Horror Film Festival and the First Look Student Film Festival, and more news from festivals as the days go by.

DVD is Available!

For those interested in a copy of the film on DVD (as well as a number of special features), please email me. The cost is just $10.00 per DVD, and with that comes the widescreen version of the film, two other short films, the trailer, deleted scenes, storyboard-to-film comparisons, and a stills gallery!

FESTIVAL NEWS!!!

-"The Underdogs" will be having its World Premiere screening at this year's I-Con22 Sci-Fi/Horror convention in Stony Brook, Long Island! The convention will run from March 28-30. "The Underdgs" will be screened on Saturday the 29th, at 1PM. For more info, visit their site and go to Information > Schedules.

-The next screening will be at this year's NYU First Run Festival in New York City in April! The following screenings will be held at the Cantor Film Center on 8th Street, between Broadway and University.

Main Festival Screening:
Tuesday, April 8: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Additional Festival Screening:
Sunday, April 13: 2:30 pm- 4:00 pm

2/15/03: The film is completed! Sometime this month we will have DVD copies of The Underdogs with a bunch of added stuff:

-Deleted Scenes, Two other short films, Storyboard and stills gallery, the trailer, and audio available in Dolby 5.1. If you are interested in a copy, send an email here!

1/29/03: After several more months of re-cutting and reworking the sound design, "The Underdogs" is officially picture-locked for good!!! Kevin Walker at Millenium Sound will be completing the score this week, and we will have a finished, sound mixed film by February 6th.

"The Underdogs" will have it's official premier at NYU's First Run Film Festival in April in NYC. Thanks must go out to the Clive Davis Foundation for a generous grant to help cover the post-production sound and music. Copies of the film will be available in February. Check back for more updates...

5/10/02: NEW ARTICLE!!! Mike Watt's in-depth article about the making of "The Underdogs" is now on his site Hollywood is Burning! In case you haven't seen Mike's site yet, it is one of the best independent film web sites out there. Check it Out Now!!!

5/4/02: This week the new Videoscope Magazine comes out, with Debbie on the cover. She talks about her upcoming films, including "The Underdogs".

-I would also like to thank the Berks County Friends of the Arts Foundation in PA for their generous help with funding some of the post production process.

-We now have a second rough cut and it looks like music composer Scott Glasgow in LA will be arranging some temp music for our next cut!

4/22/02: The I-Con 21 convention was great! A few updates...

-The Underdogs has been added to the Internet Movie Database. The full cast and crew should be updated on it soon.

-The double issue of Femme Fatales magazine should be on news stands now. It features a piece written by Debbie about her work last year and includes a section about her work on the film.

-After a month and a half of being on-line, the trailer passed the 500 downloads mark last week!!! Not bad...

This Friday the 19th at 8PM, I will be showing the trailer for the Underdogs at the I-CON Sci-Fi/Fantasy Convention in Long Island!!! I'll also be on a panel discussing the Independent Horror Film. -Also, The Underdogs should be mentioned in the upcoming double issue of Femme Fatales magazine in another article about Debbie! It should be out in the next week or so!!!

I got to see a rough cut tonight of the film and it looks great. It still needs music and a LOT of sound work but it's coming together beautifully...

4/1/02: Welcome back everyone. Some news...This Friday, April 5th, check the Christian Science Monitor for an article about low-budget filmmaking. The Underdogs is featured in it and sounds pretty sweet.

3/22/02: Editing is going well. The film is at a very rough cut now. We're planning on shooting the ending in a few weeks, when it warms up.

The page has been updated a bit. We're adding some concept art and storyboards. Some more pics have been added and some press material from our photographer Ricky Boyer is being added.

The trailer has been downloaded 350+ times since the beginning of March!

The article by Mike Watt looks great. I'll keep you posted as to where/when it will appear.

Also, an article by Jon Hart will be out soon in the Christian Science Monitor. Sounds like lots of good info on low-budget filmmaking.

2/12/02: The first trailer is cut together and it looks awesome. Chris Magliozzo from Crew Cuts is editing it and doing a great job. We will be uploading a Quicktime trailer in the next day or two.

1/20/02: Did an interview with Mike Watt for "Femme Fatale" magazine.
